Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the request and supplies the response. Bowie County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact submission long enough to respond and manage the correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the server may automatically record standard technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one exists
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. We and our analytics services use them to understand traffic in aggregate, such as popular pages and common exit points. You may block cookies through the browser, although doing so can change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a requested search to the appropriate partner
- Operating, maintaining, and improving website performance
- Diagnosing errors and security problems
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Bowie County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It explains how to reach Bowie County record custodians, local criminal courts, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure rules apply to information submitted through those tools. We do not set those practices. Review the provider's terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Bowie County offices, court portals, Texas DPS resources, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertisements. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to the following limited recipients:
- Advertising networks that serve material on the pages
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a query you submit
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information under our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor provided such information, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. Texas public records are governed by the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while criminal-history record dissemination is restricted by Government Code Chapter 411. Those government-record laws do not convert this private website into a public agency. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Seek deletion where the law permits it
- Decline certain forms of processing when an applicable right exists
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A replacement version will be posted here and identified by its effective date.
